When I was young, like many artists, all I wanted to be when I grew up was an artist. When I was in my early 20's, I could not see a path for myself in the art world of the early aughts, and I decided to go to law school. It turns out that I love research and writing and ideals of justice, but I was not meant to be a lawyer.

When my children came along, they were both avid creators, drawers, makers, and artists. They reminded me of the very deep human drive to seek joy and meaning in art-making. Watching them convinced me to pivot and pursue visual art.

I was the recipient of the 2022-2023 Steve and Ann Bailey Opportunity Grant, which has helped me pursue Classical portraiture learning.  I have been grateful to be a Tri-Star Arts Studio Artist at the Candoro Marble Building in South Knoxville since 2024. I am a member of the Portrait Society of America.

When I am not painting, I love spending time with my family--including my cats and dog, knitting, reading, and being in nature.
